San Bernardino County, California — In a bust that was anything but cute, officers with the Chino Police Department seized a Hello Kitty baggie full of fentanyl and more than $1500 worth of stolen Target goods from a grand theft suspect.
The crime, which happened last week, was all caught on surveillance video. It reportedly shows the suspect wheeling out his red cart loaded with merchandise, then fleeing in a U-Haul truck. Officers caught up to the suspect off State Route 60, according to Chino police and pulled him over.
“The suspect, from the city of Gardena, was also wanted for other thefts in the area, which have resulted in over $33,000 in losses,” the department said.
The man was taken to the county jail and faces charges of grand theft, four outstanding warrants for theft and narcotics, and possession of fentanyl.
“We remain committed to proactively combating retail theft and ensuring that those who commit these crimes are held accountable,” police said.
