Dallas — The Dallas Cowboys (3-4) will try to climb back up to the .500-mark without the services of running back, Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott did not travel with the team to Atlanta for Sunday's match-up against the NFC South leading Falcons (5-3). Per ESPN, Elliott will be inactive for "disciplinary" reasons.
With Elliott being a no-go this weekend, The Cowboys elevated Dalvin Cook from the practice squad, on Saturday. This marks the second week in a row the veteran running back will be on the active roster for Dallas. During last week's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Cook rushed for 12 yards on six carries.
Elliott started the season as the Cowboys lead back but eventually lost the role to Rico Dowdle.
Elliott's 149 rushing yards (3.1 per attempt) ranks second on the team. He leads the Cowboys with two rushing touchdowns going into Week 9. Last week, Elliott scored his 70th rushing touchdown as a Cowboy. He's now only two behind Hall of Famer, Tony Dorsett for second place. Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith has the most career rushing touchdowns for the Cowboys with 153.
Dallas has struggled to consistently run the football so far this season. They're last in the NFL, averaging 74.1 yards per game. Atlanta is 21st in the league at stopping the run, allowing 132.6 rushing yards per game.
