Donald Trump reacts to receiving RFK Jr. endorsement, 'I'm honored'

Las Vegas —  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suspended his independent presidential campaign in 10 battleground states and endorsed Donald Trump.

Dr. Phil sat down for an exclusive interview with Trump in Las Vegas and asked about his thoughts on Kennedy Jr’s expression of support. The talk show host traversed two states in the same day to score separate interviews with Kennedy Jr. (in Arizona) and Trump.

"I'm very honored by it. He's a very smart guy. A different kind of a guy, but very smart,” Trump told Dr. Phil when asked about Kennedy’s support. “He loves our country. Has some, I think, very good views on a lot of different things. And I've known him for a long time. We've been somewhat friendly. And I think he's going to be a great asset.”

Trump stopped short of revealing whether he would have Kennedy Jr. join him in the administration, stating, “It's possible. We haven't really discussed that, but it's possible. But I think he adds a lot. I think he adds a lot to the election. He's got a good following, tremendous following. I think he adds a lot to the election, and I think he adds a lot if we win.”

Dr. Phil asked Trump how Kennedy Jr's experience as a trial lawyer could come into play in a potential role at the White House.

“He's a very experienced trial lawyer. He is. He's tried a lot of large cases so and a lot of it environmental. So, I thought, you know, he might play a role environmentally, might play a role as attorney general. There's a lot of things he could offer to the administration,” suggested Dr. Phil.

Kennedy Jr. first entered the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat but left the party last fall to run as an independent. He built an unusually strong base for a third-party bid, fueled in part by anti-establishment voters and vaccine skeptics who have followed his anti-vaccine work since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Number one, I've known him a long time and I've always had a good relationship. I mean, we were sort of on opposite sides of some issues, but I've always had a good relationship with him, and I'm very honored by his support,” shared Trump.

Dr. Phil added that he wasn’t surprised by Kennedy’s endorsement, stating, “Well, I've I've spoken to him about you in the past, and he's always spoken of you with a great deal of respect, even though you guys have been campaigning against each other. He's always spoken of you with a great deal of respect. So, it's not surprising to me that when he drops out that he supports you. So that wasn't a surprise to me.”

“Well, one thing he said to me, and he said the same thing that I say to everybody, November 5 is going to be the most important day in the history of our country, I believe that,” said Trump.
