Tennessee —Penny Hardaway is considered one of the most legendary figures associated with Memphis, TN. Unfortunately, status, wealth and accolades do not make you immune to crime.
A man was arrested and accused of stealing property belonging to the Memphis head basketball coach and NBA legend.
Ronald James, 42, was arrested and charged with theft of property, Thursday by Memphis police.
Hardaway told Memphis TV station WREG News Channel 3 the theft included 26 pairs of "one-of-kind" Nike Air Foamposite shoes, worth thousands of dollars, stolen from his home located in East Memphis.
The Aug. 8 incident was caught on security cameras. Memphis police released photos of the reported suspect (via Facebook) pushing a shopping cart filled with multiple boxes that were apparently taken from the front porch of Hardaway’s home.
According to WREG, no bond was set for James, nor has a court date been given. Police haven't commented on whether Hardaway’s stolen property was retrieved.
