Well done! Chef Tim Love's chopped steak with mushrooms

U.S. Acclaimed Texas Chef Tim Love stopped by Merit Street to share a recipe sure to elevate any holiday meal.  

In his recipe, you'll find lots of rich flavor from the steak with hints of garlic and thyme, paired with the earthiness of mushrooms. So roll up your sleeves, and enjoy!

Ingredients 

1 6-8 oz. steak (tri-tip, striploin, or a similar cut)
Salt & pepper
2 tbs. peanut or canola oil 
¼ cup cremini mushrooms, sliced in ¼ pieces
¼ cup white onion
1 tbs. garlic 
1 tbs. shallot, minced
¼ cup red wine
2 tbs. demi-glace 

Demi-Glace 
1 tbs. butter, unsalted
1 tsp. flat leaf parsley, finely chopped 
½ tsp. fresh thyme, finely chopped 

Instructions
Finely dice steak. Form into an oval-shaped patty.  Season liberally with salt & pepper.  In a large skillet over medium high heat add oil & sear steak until well caramelized, for approximately 2 minutes. Turn steak and allow to cook an additional 2 minutes or until well caramelized. Transfer pan to 400-degree oven and roast until desired doneness.
