Merit Street Media | 12 December, 2023
NEW YORK, DECEMBER 12, 2023 – Threshold Editions is excited to announce the forthcoming publication of WE'VE GOT ISSUES: How You Can Stand Strong for America’s Soul and Sanity by Phillip C. McGraw, Ph. D. (aka Dr. Phil) on February 27, 2024. The announcement was made today by Jennifer Long, Vice President and Deputy Publisher of Threshold Editions.
A distinguished mental health professional, bestselling author, and renowned television host with decades of experience, Dr. Phil brings his cutting psychological insight to address pressing social issues affecting the American family.
In WE’VE GOT ISSUES: How You Can Stand Strong for America’s Soul and Sanity Dr. Phil employs his signature no-nonsense approach to meticulously analyze American’s cultural crisis and offers practical, empirically based, action-oriented strategies to restore our country to societal health, sanity, and power. This compelling work combines a brutally honest look at the sustained attack on the American family and erosion of the core values that have defined this great country for over 250 years. Providing prescriptive guidance, Dr. Phil addresses mainstream American’s need to “push back” against the “Tyranny of the Fringe’s” dangerous level of divisiveness with sensible and urgently needed advice supported by the latest social, medical, and psychological scientific findings.
“I love this country – flaws, fallacies, and all – and I don’t believe we have to tear it down from within to make it better. I want to offer a path back to a united American in which we all take pride,” stated McGraw. “Reclaiming our shared values and rejecting nonsense is not just a national imperative but a personal responsibility.”
Written in Dr. Phil’s distinct style WE’VE GOT ISSUES: How You Can Stand Strong America’s Soul and Sanity is action-oriented and direct, presenting a constructive vision for moving from cancel culture to counsel culture, from fear to acceptance, and from victimhood to a meritocracy, with a narrative that makes sense.
Jennifer Long, Vice President and Deputy Publisher of Threshold Editions, secured world rights for the book from Jan Miller and Shannon Marven at Dupree/Miller & Associates. Simultaneously, Simon & Schuster Audio will publish the audiobook edition, narrated by the author.

Phillip C. McGraw, Ph.D., is the author of 10 New York Times bestsellers. In 2023, after 21 seasons of dominating the genre, McGraw chose to end his daytime platform "Dr. Phil” in order to launch his own broadcast cable television network, Merit Street Media. Set to debut in February 2024, the news and entertainment network will be anchored by “Dr. Phil Primetime,” his all-new nightly program.
Before blazing his unprecedented career in television, McGraw founded Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (CSI), a groundbreaking trial science firm bringing his psychological expertise, including both forensic and clinical specialties, to the high-octane litigation arena. His work at CSI was so unique it inspired the hit CBS primetime series, "Bull," which ran for 6 seasons with McGraw as Executive Producer, co-creator, and writer. The mother-son legal drama, "So Help Me Todd," with McGraw as EP, debuted on CBS in fall 2022 to stellar ratings and critics' raves and is currently in its second season. He additionally hosts two chart-topping podcasts, "Phil In The Blanks" and "Mystery & Murder: Analysis by Dr. Phil.”
A frequent testifying expert on Capitol Hill, McGraw is also a two-time Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer, and in 2015 was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. In February 2020, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. McGraw was honored with the coveted Presidential Citation in 2006 by the American Psychological Association for his significant contributions to the field of psychology. The citation read in part, "your work has touched more Americans than any other living psychologist."
McGraw resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Robin. They have two adult sons and four grandchildren.
