Dr. Phil speaks with parents whose coddling parenting styles some claim are hindering their children’s success in the real world.

When it comes to a generation of young adults, some claim there is a great concern that many simply can’t function in the real world due to being raised by overprotective and coddling parents. Tonight, Dr. Phil will speak with Gina, who says she wears the label of a hovering helicopter mom, to her 13-year-old son Stanton, as a “badge of honor." Gina says she proudly goes to great lengths to protect teen son, even if that means carrying a GUN when they're out together. Find out what happens when Dr. Phil introduces Gina to  Zach who claims he was raised by a mother just like Gina, and says it had a serious effect on his life. Plus, Dr. Phil speaks with 2 best friends, Kayla and Marissa, who are on opposite sides of the parenting spectrum. Kayla, who says she just can't tell her daughter’s “no,” because she doesn’t ever want to see them unhappy, but Marissa, worries that soft approach is a huge, no-no. Lastly, Dr. Phi will speak wit Diane, a former teacher who says students are becoming monsters, and places the blame largely on the shoulders of their parents.
