A fiery showdown about America's migrant influx and how much it’s costing us. Featuring a clash of opinions and personal stories that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.
Should America remain a “Melting Pot?” While legal immigration has historically benefited the U.S., the tidal wave of migrants, particularly those exploiting asylum loopholes, poses a significant financial burden to American taxpayers, estimated at $451 billion annually. Government benefits provided to illegal immigrants fuels public outrage. Irina, a Russian immigrant and concerned mother, sounds the alarm on a migrant shelter near her home, fearing for her children's safety. Mayra, a former Congresswoman, says America needs to take care of its own families before we look after anyone else. Robert, a civil rights attorney, says we can’t make sweeping judgements just because a few people, “come to the buffet table with a plastic bag.” Kate, a no-nonsense Marine Corps. veteran, demands tougher borders and a fair shake for her fellow service members. Meanwhile, Alejandro, a Mexican immigrant who stayed in the US illegally until he got citizenship, says we need more legal options for migrants because they’ll find a way in no matter what. Finally, his wife, Kathleen, an immigration attorney, says it’s almost impossible to claim asylum- but many migrants have no other choice to find a better life for their families.
